barely exotic
Cling in opalescent disregard.
They dine with
refined tastes
on only rose petals
and crepe myrtle leaves.
They don't speak the
language
ignoring my pleas.
Holding open orgies
between the petals of
the pink Savoy Hotel
and
too drugged to see
my dismay
at the confetti-ed
evidence
they always leave behind
when the party
at long last ends.
we had them real bad on our grape vine 2 years ago...pests....nicely written though...smiles.

Dispicable creatures in their gaudy outfits. I ruin their parties with a bowl of warm, soapy water. Plop! And they're gone. Unfortunately there are always backups waiting in the wings.

ReplyDeleteBeetles always freaked me out as a kid (in Maryland). We don't see many of them here in Florida. A giant grasshopper found its way into my car today however.

ReplyDeleteHow do you control them? We have major slug infestation this time of the year, in search of all the tender plants. Best to find another insect to feast on them.
ReplyDeleteMy primary control is crushing them with my gloved hands. This usually works unless there are many and then I will resort to insect soap. Maybe regular soap should be my next effort!
ReplyDeleteAh lovely, and particularly close to my heart as I keep trying to paint those little critters and have yet to be satisfied with a depiction.
ReplyDeleteOh and perhaps I should clarify that by paint I mean pictures of - dousing them in acrylics is not a new pest control technique!
